This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a suburban/urban school in the east valley of a metro area. We have a diverse, majority Hispanic student body. We are tucked into a neighborhood that was formerly mostly affluent and white. As schools in our area have closed and neighborhood dynamics have shifted, our student body has become racially/ethnically, economically, and culturally diverse.
The lack of access to materials needed to be successful is a huge problem our students face daily.
Having technology and school supplies will go a long way in creating student buy-in and accountability for their work.
My Project
Students will be able to put their phones on the charger and pick up the book and escape the digital age and learn the valuable lessons they can only get from a book. Imagination, critical thinking skills are enhanced by holding and reading a tangible book. Inside the book a person can escape their own world and be transported to the land they are reading about and discover a real sense of what it was like to live in those time periods and compare those experiences with what it is like in today's world. Critical thinking and imagination will help bring history alive.
