My Students
My students, ages 13-17, come from all over the world. These students and their families are currently living in New York City, the greatest city in the world, during a global pandemic. After spending the past year and a half learning remotely, we are now facing some unexpected difficulties in the classroom.
Technology has been my students' only form of communication and socialization since March of 2020.
Now that we are back in the classroom, there is an unexpected reliance on technology, mainly cell phones.
My students have been the highlight of my day every day during this pandemic. I would love to see my students plug in their phones, focus on class, and leave with a little more charge than they had before.
My Project
After spending a year and a half at home learning on devices, many of my students are having a difficult time putting their phones down and focusing in class.
Cell phones are a major distraction in class.
Having these charging stations will give my students the opportunity to charge their phones during class, keeping them out of their hands and minimizing the distraction.
After this year and a half of remote learning I understand how difficult it is for my students to reacclimate to the school building. Having their phones in a safe place (and out of their hands) during class will help us engage more deeply in our learning in the classroom.
