My students need a tablet charging station to help keep technology accessible in the classroom.

My Students

My school is located in a high poverty area. For the fourth year in a row, breakfast and lunch are available to all students at no charge.

My students teach me new things everyday and I can only hope they learn something from me.

This is my second year to teach fourth grade and my hope is to instill a love of learning in my students.

I team teach and between the two classes, I have forty students in my classroom throughout the school day. I have discovered that each student is special in their own way.

My Project

We are a project based learning school. We use technology in my classroom daily. In my classroom, we have 12 tablets for student use. By using technology daily, we often have tablets that are not fully charged for student use, and many times we have "dead" devices that can not be used due to not being charged.

Often times, we do not have enough outlets to charge all our devices at the same time.

By having a charging station in our classroom, my students can make sure they always have technology to use.

Also, by having a charging station, I plan to make my students accountable for making sure their technology is charged and ready to use. I have recently assigned my students a certain device to use. This will teach my students responsibility to make sure their device is charged.
