Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a Title I school where almost all of the children qualify for free lunch, most of my students come from very low poverty households as first-generation Americans here for "The American Dream".
We are located in one of the oldest, yet poorest neighborhoods of Staten Island where some of my students lost their homes due to Hurricane Sandy.
On a daily basis, where I am happy that my students had the opportunity to complete their homework, I am amazed beyond belief at their dedication to reading, writing, and math. There is no greater joy than doing everything I can for my students so that they achieve the "American Dream" in school.
My Project
My students use Chromebooks each day for web-based learning opportunities and many other projects and assignments. This charging station will allow 16 Chromebooks to stay charged at one time and be ready to go for the next day. This charging station will also aid in helping keep the area clean and free of clutter from the multiple cords.
Organization and readiness helps my students work more effectively and efficiently.
In today's world this skill is extremely important. My students love working with Chromebooks (especially those who don't have access at home). I want to keep mine fully charged and ready whenever needed.
