My Students
My students are part of a restricted 12:1:1 setting due to their severe social and emotional disabilities and academic delays.
All of my students live in Brooklyn, NY with low-income families, in shelters, or with foster families.
My students' home lives are extremely difficult; they display very little trust toward their peers and adults. The abuse and neglect that these children have faced in their life is something no child, or human being, should be exposed to. These teens work hard and are eager to learn. They come to school because it is where they feel "at home." Our school is a warm environment that welcomes all students, regardless of disability.
My Project
Due to the pandemic, the wear and tear from using our iPads everyday for Google Meets have taken a toll on our charging cables. My students were given iPads to use both in home and in class daily, however most of my students have either lost, misplaced, or have broken their chargers. I was blessed with a charging station for my classroom but still lack iPad charging cables.
Having new iPad charging cables, my students can charge their iPads while at school and never have to worry about being unprepared to learn.
New charging cables will help my students feel at ease knowing that they are able to continue learning with their fully charged devices!
