Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in a high poverty neighborhood and they come to school with diverse minority backgrounds. All of them are non Caucasian, either being African American or of Hispanic descent and all of them receive free lunch. Most of them come hungry to school every day and look forward to coming to school for daily essentials of life as well as for their love of learning.
Despite all of their economic hardships, these students arrive ready to learn and they seek out ways to connect with the teachers and community members in the building.
They are eager to help others, especially in ways that highlight their individual strengths.
My Project
My students have one to one Chromebooks in our classroom, but we are in need of a safe place to store and charge them. Having a charging cart will enable all Chromebooks to be charged and ready for learning on a daily basis. Having a dedicated place for them will also teach them responsibility of organization as well as keeping them charged.
The donations to our cart will help keep our Chromebooks in good condition for this years class as well as the future classes.
This is extremely important, as students will need to use them in future grade levels.
