Charging and Recharging: Chromebooks and Students' Mental Health

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In order to ensure our students receive adequate academic and personal support, our goal is to provide them with resources to complete necessary academic and self-care tasks.
Students need a safe and welcoming space to focus on classwork and future planning, and to decompress!
I work with students across all high school grades (9th-12th) The majority of my students come from low-income households. As a result, they do not all have access to technology like laptops outside of school. While I have a set of Chromebooks for the students to use, I do not have a convenient way to charge the full class set. A Chromebook cart would greatly help my students and me!
Additionally, many students come to my office seeking emotional support or a space to take a break. While I have comfortable seating for them, I am asking for mental health pillows and a floor lamp to make the space more conducive to an emotional reset. This will enable students to self-regulate more effectively so that they can return to class feeling recharged in a timely manner.
Your support would be greatly appreciated. Students are appreciative of having resources and a safe place to go, whether it be to work on their schoolwork, college applications, or self-regulation skills.
