My Project

I'm a 5th grade math teacher, who uses Zearn to teach math. Zearn is an online math curriculum, coupled with live whole- and small-group instruction. Zearn Math connects math to the real world in ways that take the fear out of math and build students confidence, helping my students achieve true understanding lesson by lesson. Extensive scaffolding drives the online student experience. Each lesson builds on previous skills, breaks work down into clear steps, and offers chances to go further.

I believe classrooms/schools that have charging carts and storing solutions for chrome books, take advantage of three significant benefits: ensuring computers are fully charged and ready for instruction, securing them from accidental loss or theft, and simplifying how chromebooks are distributed.

With our chrome books in heavy use, they’re bound to lose their charge at some point during the day.

I've struggled with makeshift "charging stations" using crates, zip ties, and power strips, but the cords get tangled and all of our computers are rarely charged properly. Since Zearn requires us to have fully charged computers, a proper computer cart would be a lifesaver for our students. Plugging a computer into any available outlet may seem like the obvious solution, but outlets are hard to come by in our older building, and plugging into random outlets doesn't provide protection against accidental breakage or theft. A charging cart will help us keep our chrome books organized and secure, without needing an expensive infrastructure updates to the school.
