My 25 students come to school in a small, Mayberry-like town in southern California and they are enthusiastic learners who get excited about all things Kindergarten as well as learning to be responsible young citizens.
My Kindergarten kids will learn to be successful students and take on the challenges of their first full year of formal schooling.
Using electronic media to help teach them letters, sounds, reading and math skills will better prepare them for their scholastic years ahead as 21st century learners.
Their parents are generally middle-class working folks that want the best education for their children and are so appreciative of anything that helps their kids learn and grow. Our school has approximately 650 students of mixed races, ethnic backgrounds and religions.
My Project
The multi-device charging station will keep our classroom iPads charged and ready for use daily. The kids will use the media to access educational sites for help with their Language Arts & Math skills practice. Having a document camera to project images will also help the students see examples of teacher and student work and interact with the images via the SmartBoard.
The magnetic skeleton will be a cool addition to our study of the human body and the major bones we'll come to learn about.
Being able to maniplulate and create a skeleton in a hands-on manner will be very exciting for our young learners.
Lastly, a wide selection of mentor texts and student readers will be a wonderful and welcome addition to our classroom library where the new rug will invite the children to cozy up and read.
