This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach a diverse population of students who are English language learners from many different cultural backgrounds and educational needs. We are a Title I school, meaning students come from many other social and economic circumstances. I teach mathematics to two eighth-grade classes every year, with 30 students in each class. My students are located mainly in the Elmhurst and Corona areas of Queens, which have been hit very hard by this pandemic.
Basic supplies are the key to success in the math classroom!
Some of my students just received iPads but they were not given a protective case or a charger for them. I want to be able to give them a case and a charger so that they can comfortably use the iPad daily in class. They have to watch how much time they spend on their devices during school and make sure to turn them off at home since they have no charger at home to charge their devices. They also need to be super careful since they do not have cases. Having cases and chargers will greatly benefit my students.
