Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a second grade inclusion classroom with a mixture of general education and special needs students in a high needs area in the Bronx. My students are a group of diverse learners, with a wide range of abilities.
Many of my students enjoy being in school and coming into my classroom every day; they see it as a consistent part of their lives.
With their desire to learn and the effort they put forth, these children inspire me every day.
Being a Title I school, the majority of students come from low-income homes, shelters, or homes with limited parental involvement, but they are enthusiastic and come to school every day ready to learn. They see school as a consistent part of their daily lives and love to make me proud. My students are some of the happiest children I have ever had the pleasure of working with, and they inspire me to provide the best education I can for them.
My Project
Many students rely on teachers to charge their devices, either because they do not have consistent electricity at home, or they have broken or lost their chargers.
Teachers have limited resources to do this, and the need is great!
As our instruction is almost 100% online, in ALL classes, students without their devices charged are not able to participate fully in class or complete their assignments effectively.
In order to ensure students' learning is not interrupted, teachers must either buy their own charging stations or chargers. This grant would help everyone!
