This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are what get me through the day! They are so goofy and eager to learn. I love telling stories about them to family and friends because the just do and say the funniest things. I also love telling stories about how much they have achieved. My students have been working so hard this year--pushing through extended quarantines, switching between virtual and in-person, and complying with COVID regulations. It's been a lot but they still show up every day ready to learn and that's why I show up every day ready to do my best teaching!

My Project

As we have all adjusted to COVID, a huge part of that adjustment has been using laptops. We use laptops daily in the classroom to meet district expectations of computer usage. Students have tailored English and Math lessons specifically to work on skills they need to improve upon. They are also learning how to type and completing essays and research projects for English and Social Studies by using the laptops. These are also the laptops we use for standardized and state testing. They're very important to our classroom! However, organizing them has been a nightmare. We don't have a safe storage space which means cords are exposed and tangled up. No matter how many times I untangle them, by the end of the day, it's a mess.

I am looking to create a storage solution that allows students to independently store and charge the classroom laptops so we have easy access and use of them.

This will greatly reduce transition time and I won't have to spend my planning period untangling charging cords. In addition, the other items in this project will be used for class prizes and for us to continue using our dry erase boards (an activity the students LOVE in math!).
