This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach a diverse population of students ranging from honors, special education, and English language learners from many different cultural backgrounds and educational needs. We are a Title I-funded school, meaning students come from many other social and economic circumstances. I teach mathematics to three, seventh-grade classes every year, with 30 students in each class. My students are located mainly in the Elmhurst and Corona areas of Queens.
Basic supplies are the key to success in the math classroom!
Some of my students just received iPads but they were not given protective cases or chargers for them. Some have lost their chargers or have broken cases. I want to be able to give them cases and chargers so that they can comfortably use their iPads daily in class. They have to watch how much time they spend on their devices during school and make sure to turn them off at home since they have no chargers at home to charge their devices. They also need to be super careful since they do not have cases. Having cases and chargers will greatly benefit my students!
