This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

For the past several years students and teachers have been relying on technology in order to learn. While this technology is convenient and allows for more student-centered exploration and diversity in learning, it does have some glitches. One of those glitches is uncharged Chromebooks.

Access to charging stations will allow students to continue to be connected to learning when their Chromebooks run out of charge in class.

My classes are 30 to 36 students and within any given class, anywhere between 2 and 8 students will need to charge their device at some point in the class. Rather than losing learning time, students will be able to continue uninterrupted. It is critical that students are able to stay focused and active during learning time in class. Without a charged device, that is almost impossible to do.

My goals for this project are: 1. to allow students a place to charge their Chromebook when they need it; 2. to provide an environment of focused, uninterrupted learning; 3. to give students every opportunity for learning and growth during class time.

My students are diverse in culture, language, socio-economic status, and learning styles. Such diversity brings challenges in meeting each student's needs. Chromebooks have helped bridge this gap in many ways, including translation apps and learning platforms that are scaffolded for instruction.
