Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I read to our students in either a small group or individual setting to help encourage social-emotional and mental health growth and knowledge. Students are very receptive to these stories even though the characters are not a reflection of who they are.
The characters in these books look like my students, represent them, and include actual events they have or will eventually encounter!
All students need representation of themselves in situations that they have been in or will be in.
These specific books include important topics such as mindfulness, accepting ourselves as we are, interrupting while others are talking, and the power within us all. Help my students learn emotional well-being while being represented in quality books!
