My Project

I am the librarian in a Title One school where over seventy-five percent of our families live in poverty. This year we are implementing a new SEL program called Character Strong. To support the lessons, I am creating projects to purchase books that are recommended by this program that classroom teachers can read or students can read in the library. I also envision PE and Music teachers participating. It takes everyone to support this work.

Character Strong is an evidence-based, multi-tiered solution to support whole child success.

This program will help improve behavior, increase safety, and support mental health. These books will help us create better spaces for our students.

The books I am requesting will support the themes of gratitude, empathy, perseverance and honesty.

Thank you for supporting our school and helping us support our students. We want to build empathy and compassion for one another.
