My Students

Our school is a Title I school with a population of amazing students and community members. We have a lot of school pride even though we may have limited funds. We are also a community school providing resources to parents and students in the surrounding area.

48% percent of our students participate in the free and reduced lunch program.

Many of our students are below grade level in reading and math. We have such sweet kids whose parents are doing their best and encouraging education. As a first grade team of teachers, we work hard to show growth within our classes, differentiating learning for many styles.

My Project

This selection of books will be used in our classroom to teach about responsibility, respect, kindness and generally being a good citizen, along with a few other books that tie with our curriculum.

Students need to be shown models of good character and citizenship in many different forms.

We love presenting stories of kindness and respect with stories first graders can relate to.

When good character models are in a story with characters they can relate to they really take the lessons to heart. We would love to have these in our classroom to go along with our school character traits we are trying to promote and develop in each student. Our only classroom rule is to have courage and be kind!
