I have 25 amazing first graders who are energetic, enthusiastic, motivated, and special. My students like to move, twist, stand, sit, and most importantly, learn. My students are in an urban community and many students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our classroom furniture is outdated and I am looking to transform my everyday classroom into a kinesthetic learning environment to best meet the needs of all of my students. The students in my classroom range from regular education to ESL to special education. My high expectations and drive brings me to this project for my students.
My students enjoy painting in first grade. We have been learning to be kind and loving this school year. We have learned to spread love each day by sharing, giving a hug or high five, giving a compliment or writing a note. We also have been painting rocks and leaving kindness rocks for someone to find. Students want to keep their rocks but the ones outside are often too big. This project is for small rocks for them to paint and keep in their pockets. Small wooden hearts and picture frames to spread love by giving. Students will be able to paint rocks, frames and hearts to spread love to friends, family and classmates as well as something for themselves! I think this is a great addition to the projects we have already been doing in our classroom. Choosing to be kind and loving is something we work on each day! I want my students to be able to give and accept love openly not only in the classroom but as they grow!
