My Project

As a grade 1 teacher, I strive to spark my students' love for reading each school year. At the beginning of the year, I start this journey with the Mercy Watson book series by Kate DiCamillo and it never fails! The students LOVE reading about Mercy's crazy antics and it is an amazing series to get students interested rather than intimidated in chapter books. Since we have read this series, my kids have been fighting over renting these books from our school library and classroom library. They just can't seem to get enough!

With your generous donation, I hope to provide each child with a Christmas gift of the full Mercy Watson series and build our classroom library with more book series that we can read as a class to continue our chapter book journey.

I have included chapter books that are great for all reading levels and will be of interest to all of my students. It would be so special to be able to give my students their favorite chapter book this Christmas and maybe they'll even find another series they love this school year!
