My Students
My students are a very diverse group. We are a title one school. Our neighborhood is in a lower economic group. All of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. This is my first year teaching and this is a SPECIAL and exciting year for both me and my AMAZING kindergarten students. My students are quite excited to be in school now and continue their learning each and every day. These students WANT to read, learn, and grow.
My Project
My students really enjoy listening to books during their breakfast time in the morning as school is starting. We have been doing children's books, but I think it is time to branch out and see how chapter books go. I loved this series when I was little too. The white boards are an essential part of kindergarten writing. I currently do not have enough white boards in my classroom for each student. With sight words and blending letters together, my students need something to write with that is also easy for them to erase and try, try again.
My students want to listen to "big kid books" and want to write words on their own.
The students are excited with the idea of "being a big kid" and reading the same book for a long time. These series will be perfect for my students.
