My Project
I teach reading to students with special needs, and every year the challenge is the same: getting over the chapter book hump. My students do great with graphic novels, but they struggle with reading longer books with fewer pictures. They have a hard time visualizing what they are reading and remembering the story events from chapter to chapter.
My students need fun chapter books with repetitive characters so they can practice visualizing and remembering the plot of a longer book. These books are of high interest for my 5th-8th graders, but have low difficulty to reduce frustration and make reading fun again. My students won't even know they are learning because they will simply be having fun! You can make this project come true. Every penny counts and I appreciate any help you can give!
