My Project

I have such an amazing group of first graders this year! They are fun, eager to learn, enthusiastic, and, above all, CURIOUS! The students are always wanting to try out new things and go above and beyond what they are asked to do.

They’re at that magical age where their imaginations are bursting and they’re ready to dive into longer stories!

Chapter books introduce them to more complex plots and ideas, which makes reading feel more like an adventure. It’s a great way for them to develop a love for reading, discover new interests, and even have fun with their friends discussing what happens next in the story!

My goal is to overhaul a complete section of my library. I really want to include chapter books because they’re just such a fantastic way to spark kids' imaginations and keep them engaged! They offer a great bridge from picture books to more complex stories, helping young readers build confidence and skills. Plus, there’s something special about getting lost in a longer story, where kids can follow characters on adventures and really get to know them over time.

Having a variety of chapter books means I can cater to different interests and reading levels, making it easier for everyone to find something they love. It’s all about creating a fun, welcoming space where kids can discover the joy of reading!
