I teach honors English with some amazing students. When I was younger, I loved reading and it translated naturally into becoming a teacher. I want to foster this love of learning for my students through literature. My students are not only eager to learn, but they also want to know more about the world, other cultures and learn how to impact the world in a positive way.
As part of our outside reading program, I want to offer engaging, exciting reading options.
Some of my students have families that can provide them with a text; however, many families are not in a position to give. My honors students are willing and excited to read, and I want to be able to provide all of my students with the opportunity to get caught up in a book!
By providing students with fascinating stories, I can help my students learn more about themselves. There are 10 total copies of this book within our school, yet I alone have 63 students who may want to read it.
All of my students are college bound and will be leaving their impact in two short years.
The hope is that I can send a student, not only prepared academically, but emotionally as well. I want my students to leave knowing a little more about who they are, and how they can change the world.
By giving a student a chance to read a book that is engaging and interesting, he or she can come to class prepared and ready for discussions. Thank you for taking a look!
