My students need an iPad to be able to make research in science, listen to audio books during reading stations, take AR reading tests to reach his/her AR goal, use for behavior, and Kahoot game.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school serves K-5 who come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 90% of our students receiving free lunch. Our school is one of the roughest in Montgomery, AL ranging from shootings, fights, starvation, and a very high percentage of absences each year. Our students range from English and 40% Spanish learners. With our students coming in every day with barely anything and the same clothes worn, we are also one of the failing schools in our system. Our students are so technologically advanced but with the lack of technology that we have in our schools causes a halt with both teachers and students.
My Project
My students will be able to pair with their peers and make discourse discussions in reading while even researching information on landmasses, political and physical maps, historical figures with timelines, review with a formative assessment using the Kahoot game, compare and contrast digitally, use mathematics manipulatives, read and retell various leveled audio books, complete and participate in their weekly system computer intervention programming games that works on on-grade level skills, and be able to record their reading fluency. Students will be able to self reflect on their learning while also learning the responsibility of property and safe internet web browsing. This iPad allows safe web browsing and the teacher is able to limit their usage. The iPad is mobile so it is always readily available for the students to use during small group interaction.
