This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In my class, I strive to create an environment where students can fully explore and expand their learning potential. As a teacher, I consider myself fortunate and privileged to stand before a group of young adults brimming with the capacity to absorb and master the Spanish language. I firmly believe that acquiring proficiency in Spanish not only enriches their academic experience but also equips them with a valuable skill set that can unlock countless opportunities in their personal and professional lives, both locally and globally.

Whether in school or in their future careers, fluency in Spanish opens doors to new connections, cultures, and experiences, empowering students to navigate an increasingly interconnected world with confidence and proficiency.

It is my sincere hope that the knowledge and skills they gain in my class will serve as a foundation for their ongoing growth and success, both now and in the years to come.

Incorporating the use of a camera in my classroom for students to record themselves after completing oral activities holds significant importance for their language learning journey. By capturing their own spoken performances, students gain invaluable opportunities for self-assessment and reflection. Reviewing these recordings allows them to identify areas for improvement such as pronunciation, intonation, and fluency which are crucial aspects of language acquisition.

Additionally, watching themselves speak in Spanish helps reinforce their confidence and comfort level with the language, as they become more familiar with their own speaking abilities.

In addition to leveraging technology for oral practice, providing access to a color printer in the classroom offers numerous benefits for hands-on learning experiences in Spanish class. Colorful flashcards, worksheets, and visual aids not only make learning more enjoyable but also cater to different learning styles, accommodating diverse needs within the classroom.
