My Students

We are a Title 1 school. We are 89% African American, 6% Caucasian, 3 % Hispanic, 2% other. We are highest poverty level, rural and limited in resources. Our desire is to expose our students to new ideas, people, and cultures.

Change a life forever by helping a student partake of a cultural exchange and global awareness experience as they travel abroad for Spring break.

Last year we took our kids to Prague, the Czech Republic to learn about global and world issues. This year we are going to Costa Rica. Once again we expose our students to another land far away from home. You want to change someone's life, expose them to travel, to another culture, other traditions, language, history, and you will change them, nothing broadens like travel.

Funds are needed to help these kids make this trip a reality. With violence, early teen pregnancy, drugs, living on the streets, often being a part of everyday reality. We want to help place dreams in their hearts. We need to change this perspective and show them there is more to life than this. Help me help them!

My Project

When you expose a child to a new experience you open doors and windows they previously thought were closed to them. You want to make a difference to someone than help them change their perspective on their lives of where they think they can go to where they truly can go. Life is filled with infinite choices for some of us and for others, not so. I want to help these kids grow and experience life like they never thought possible. We will hike, kayak, volunteer in a local school. learn about traditions, cultures, food, ecology, and language while exploring the country of Costa Rica. We will be well exposed to the country as well as to the people as we travel and learn all we can for our 8-day trip.
