This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What I love most about my students is that they want to challenge themselves to read. So many of my students are wearing for complex and rich stories to read, similar to the popular shows they see on T.V. It is often a struggle to find books that are both challenging and yet appropriate for middle school readers.

The materials chosen for this project were selected because they are referenced in or have recently been re-created in pop culture, are interesting, and have a Lexile level above 1000.

Including more challenging books in our classroom for Independent Reading and Book Clubs will help students improve their vocabulary, challenge their comprehension, and inspire them to read more!
