Challenging 6th Graders to See Unique Perspectives

Help me give my students fresh graphic novels and learning activities to inspire and motivate them to see unique perspectives.

My Project

My 6th-grade students are curious, thoughtful, and learning to understand the world beyond their own experiences. They are at an age where they begin to ask deeper questions and think critically. To do that well, they need access to high-quality books and learning resources that expose them to a variety of voices, cultures, and ideas.

This project will help me purchase engaging, diverse, and perspective-expanding learning materials.

Many of the books I hope to add to our classroom library support our social studies curriculum, which focuses on ancient civilizations like Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China, Greece, and Rome. These texts allow students to connect emotionally and intellectually with people of the past, helping them better understand the roots of our modern world.

I am also looking to bring in books that will truly capture their interest and inspire them to keep reading as they enter middle school. The right book at the right time can spark a love of reading that lasts a lifetime.

Sixth grade is a pivotal year. It is when students begin to build the academic and study skills that will carry them through the rest of their school experience. With your support, I can provide tools and texts that not only challenge their thinking but also help them grow into independent, confident learners.

Thank you for investing in their growth as readers, thinkers, and future leaders.
