This year I have noticed that my classroom library was lacking. As a first-year teacher I graciously accepted all of the books that friends and family were willing to donate. This was a great start but I quickly realized that my students needed more options. They needed books that they could relate to. Many of the books I currently have are 15 years or older, while many of them are timeless classics I am wanting to bring some new excitement to our library! We are requesting a variety of books that span over a wide range of reading levels and that celebrate each one of my students' unique cultures. These books will give my many of my students opportunities to see their culture celebrated, and represented. While we are looking for modern books we also need books that have lead characters of different cultures and backgrounds. I want my students to be represented in our classroom library! Thank you for taking the time to read this and for considering donating to our growing library!
