Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This is our 2nd Annual Chalk the Walk Contest at our high school and we are running low on materials for our talented students. The contest specifically utilizes chalk pastels and we are very low on everything. We need boxes of multiple colors, especially black chalk pastels.
My students are very motivated artists who are very excited about this contest.
Many of the students participated in the previous contest, but can not afford their own supplies. We had over 100 students participating in our first contest with many more students excited about our 2nd Annual Contest. We provided all of the chalk pastels for the first Chalk the Walk event last year, but we do not have enough supplies to successfully pull off a second event. This is why we are asking for more chalk for this year's contest because the students seem very excited, but we are low on supplies and do not have the funding to purchase more artist materials.
My Project
We need more chalk pastels and charcoal (black chalk pastels) for the 2nd Annual Competition. We are specifically asking for another large set of multicolored chalk pastels (288 classroom set) along with 30 sets of black charcoal pastels. Usually, the students will request specific colors as they work on their masterpiece as we do not want the students to run out of materials too soon. Specifically, we almost ran out of black chalk pastels towards the end of the challenge and we want students to be able to freely work without fear of running out of a certain color.
This project is so monumentally important to our students as they are able to creatively work together and create unique works of art.
This collaboration allows students not only beautify the school, but express themselves in an artistic fashion. This event will also add an international dynamic to the work, allowing students to express themselves creatively and culturally.
