This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My second grade students are lovable, energetic children who are always eager to learn new things. They look forward to school each day because they are provided with inquiry-based learning. Our school is a Pre-K through second grade student body. We are a rural community, Title I school. Our goal is to provide the most enriching, challenging education possible for all of our students. Our beautiful classroom is a warm, caring environment conducive to all types of wonderful learners.

My Project

Student engagement is an integral part of our students' learning experience in my classroom. Research has proven when students are coaching each other they are actually learning the material more effectively. The chalkboard will be used mostly during our math lessons as students will partner up and work problems together on the board. The size of the board that I am requesting will allow four groups of two at a time at the board. Students will have adequate space to display their work, explanations, and drawings of how they worked each problem. It will also be on a display that will be large enough for the entire class to view as they are explaining their problem to the students.
