This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The students I serve live difficult lives but they come each day with an eagerness to learn. While they do their best to not let their difficult life circumstances get in the way of their education unfortunately, when the entire student population is under the poverty level, this can be an incredibly difficult task.

Walking into my classroom you wouldn't know how difficult it is for many of these students to even make it to school, let alone being ready to learn.

What you will see are bright eyes, big smiles and hearts of gold. My life's passion is to encourage that inner growth and ensure they have the tools and skills to succeed academically.

My Project

In just about any classroom you will see two things, desks and chairs. In our classroom we have tables and chairs but unfortunately those chairs are not in the best condition. Many of the chairs are cracked and have pinched students during normal use. They are in definite need of replacement.

Having bright, colorful and new chairs will brighten our room and help my students focus while sitting down.

This may sound like it is a minor thing but for students that come from the situations that my students do, having a new chair would mean a lot to them.
