My Students

My second-grade scholars come from different socioeconomic backgrounds. They range between the ages of 7 and 8 years old and receive their education in an urban environment with a population of 43.4% Black, Non-Hispanic, 26.5% Hispanic, 24.4% White, Non-Hispanic, and 4.6% Multiracial. My school participates in the Federal Free School Lunch program, where 100% of our scholars receive a nutritional meal every day. They come to school despite what they are going through and work hard to accomplish set goals.

We are also one of few STEM schools in the school district, that provides all of our scholars with an equal opportunity for innovation, engineering and design principles, and stewardship within the context of cross-curricular, authentic problem-based learning units.

My Project

Teaching your students how to write and type are difficult tasks within themselves. Add in the fact that the chairs they sit in on a daily basis are extremely unpleasant as well. They are cold, hard, and are simply an eyesore when entering into what is supposed to be a vibrant atmosphere. As adults, we struggle and are sometimes forced to work under these same conditions. Many times these conditions could lead to frustration, bitterness, and anger, which often does not exhibit the outcome that we desire.

These attractive computer chairs will highlight the room and bring flexibility as well as versatility in a flash!

They will be used in our writing/typing center but, could also be an incredible addition to our already flexible seating classroom. These vinyl swivel chairs are more sanitary by being easier to clean and will be a comfortable, more modern addition than what is currently available to us.
