My students need Chairback Buddies to help keep their materials organized and clean. These organizers will be used to hold whiteboards, markers, and erasers.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students at our school live in a low-income area where they face many daily challenges. Providing them with a safe, organized classroom where routines and schedules are followed calms them and allows them to thrive. We work hard to create that safe haven for our students.
Our students are active, challenging, fun, and eager to learn.
The school has about 600 students in grades K through 5. It also houses an extended day kindergarten for academically low students and a Head Start program for families who otherwise would not have the opportunity to prepare their children for kindergarten. The families in our community are wonderful, hard-working people who cooperate with teachers to do what is best for their children. It is inspiring to work with this population!
My Project
Student success includes learning how to be organized and careful with materials. Chair organizers will help tremendously. The caddies will not only protect the materials students put inside them, but they will also make it easier for students to access their whiteboards when we are doing activities. We use whiteboards almost daily! Easy access to whiteboards will facilitate the use of OTR's (Opportunities to Respond) which is a teaching strategy that allows all students to respond at the same time. This is a wonderful way to keep students engaged, maximize learning opportunities, and prevent students from "opting out" of learning.
This project will improve our classrooms by giving students a special spot for their whiteboards that is easily accessible.
That will save valuable teaching time! Students will also learn organizational techniques that will serve them well throughout their lives. Part of fostering a happy, effective classroom is having an organized classroom. Thank you for considering this project!
