Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are caring, kind, and nurturing to one another. I teach in a high poverty school in Chicago. My students love exploring the world around them! They are builders, creators, scientists, inventors, and entrepreneurs!
My students learn best when they feel like they can be a part of something much bigger than themselves!
They feel good when they can connect what we are learning to real-life by having the opportunity to explore situations that they will encounter throughout their daily lives. Building classroom relationships and teamwork enriches our classroom learning environment. I feel it is important to build a strong and collaborative community of learners so that my students can be successful in all that they do. It is important for my students to take ownership in their learning which I believe will have the most impact on their education.
My Project
My students are eager to help out in the classroom and take their classroom jobs very seriously. They are always asking for ways to pitch in and go the extra mile to make our classroom the best it can be.
My students love earning classroom rewards and feeling good about themselves after they have accomplished a goal.
Help me give my students books, scented markers, LEGO minifigures, squishy toys, invisible ink pens, decorative scissors for crafts, positive note cards, and hard candy so they can manage our classroom store by adding these items to our inventory. Students cash in their rewards points bi-weekly and need a variety of options to capture their interest as well as keep our classroom store fully stocked throughout the year.
One of our classroom jobs is our classroom store manager and their job is to track inventory as well as chart the products that are in high demand. Students will learn how to manage their reward points and this will help them to apply their knowledge to real-life financial situations and also teach them the value of saving and earning money to get the items or rewards that matter most to them and will push them to work hard for something that they desire.
My students love hearing the words "Cha-Ching! It's Cash In Day!"
