Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is a wonderful and diverse group of students ready and excited to learn. These students are so inspiring because they come to school everyday ready to learn new things and experience new life experiences. They have so many ideas and so many wishes for an amazing school year, and I love seeing that type of energy in our classroom.

My school is considered a Title I school, meaning that a lot of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and do not have the funds to afford materials and other resources.

I don't think that wealth and status should dictate the type of education a student receives. I am determined to provide my students with the tools necessary to learn and succeed in life. I want them to feel safe, comfortable and inspired to learn. I am reaching out to DonorsChoose.org in the hopes that these students will be able to have the best education possible!

My Project

Part of having an effective and successful classroom environment is having a behavioral management program in place. Last year I started using the behavioral management program know as ClassDojo, and my students loved it! All of our classroom rewards systems are tied into ClassDojo so the students are really motivated to earn points. I set it up so that the points they earn on ClassDojo turn into money at the end of the week. Students had a credit card that I created for them, and their money would be loaded onto the credit card each week. However, I did all of this by hand, and it was a very time consuming process.

That is why I am requesting an ETM machine from Educational Classroom Systems.

This ETM will help to make the credit card system smoother and easier to organize. At the end of the week when students are ready to convert their points from ClassDojo into money, they will bring their Ecard to me and we will load how much they earned on the ETM machine. This will also teach them real life skills about money and how to use credit/debit cards. Thank you in advanced for considering giving to this project!
