Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students are very unique. They come from a variety of different home countries with many being immigrants or refugees. We have students from Venezuela, Columbia, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Pakistan, India, the Philippines, Ukraine, and Poland just to name a few of the dozens of countries. Many have parents who speak a language other than English at home. We pride ourselves on being a school that is stigma free, and that is accepting of all students regardless of gender identification, sexual orientation, or family background.
This project is for high quality glass frames and cardstock for us to create certificates for our PBSIS (positive behavioral supports in schools) program.
Our Mustang Academy is a subset within this program which puts our ninth graders in houses and provides them with additional supports as they start their High School career. There are many different awards given out throughout the year such as Student of the Month, Academic Aces, and the Mustang Shout Outs.
PBSIS has increased the culture of responsibility, respect, acceptance, and success in our schools. Students are given concrete directions with rules placed in obvious places around the school building. Students are acknowledged for doing what is right, fair, or just. Students are acknowledged for their hard work and dedication. Thank you for supporting the Mustang Academy and our PBSIS program.
