Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year, I have the privilege of teaching seventh graders. They love to socialize. They care about their school environment and community. They enjoy learning, but most of them admit to not having help at home to succeed in their academic lives. A lot of them lack the incentive to do their homework and projects at home because of the resources needed to get the work done.
Math is usually the most challenging subject for them.
They could all benefit from any extra help provided at school. Even though I am a math teacher, I plan on providing support for all major subjects.
My Project
This project is to ensure no student goes hungry during these hard times. Many families are suffering hardships from the current COVID-19 crisis and families of our students have expressed they are unable to afford food at this time. School is not the same and my students sit in one room all day as their teachers travel into the room to teach them different subjects. My three classes expressed a need for snacks to help keep them alert and motivated to learn during these hard times. This project will help my students to have a snack to help them keep focused and learning during our in-person days.

It is difficult enough to adjust to learning both in-person and at home. To also be hungry while working, is not the proper learning environment for any student. These items will help them have the food they need to concentrate on their classwork and strive just like they did before this pandemic.
