This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the best! I teach a creative, diverse, intelligent, low-socioeconomic (but wonderfully rich in heart) group of kids! They are talented, creative, and make me thankful to teach where I do. I am proud of who they are and all they have accomplished.

My Project

This slab roller would be an amazing addition to our ceramics program! I have some amazing artists right now and they love working with clay! I would really enjoy having a slab roller in our classroom to speed up the ceramic hand-building process. We currently use a rolling pin and dowels to make slabs but it takes a lot of time to just form the slabs, so by the time students begin attaching them, they are at all different dryness levels. This can cause cracking and breaking. A slab roller would definitely bring some professionalism to our program!
