Our school is an urban, public high school in San Francisco, CA, with almost 700 students. We are a diverse community with students coming from all parts of the world, speaking a multitude of languages including English, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Toisan, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Tagalog, Arabic, Japanese, Russian, and Tigrinya.
Our school’s total minority enrollment is 90% with 52% receiving free lunch and 18% receiving a reduced-price lunch.
Sixty-nine percent of our students' families are economically disadvantaged. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom however my classroom is a place for experimentation and creative expression.
My Project
All students want to know that their education is important, no matter where they attend school. Having access to high quality supplies in the arts makes my students understand the importance of the arts in their lives and their education.
Having a variety of ceramic glazes give life to their projects!
High quality supplies help create high quality projects. My students research art history, keep a journal of their ideas and inspiration. Each year my students out-do themselves visually problem solving, creating the most amazing projects. And each year, I try to provide the best quality supplies within my budget.
