Centers Practice To Bring Readers To the Center Of Attention

My students need learning center activities to improve reading skills such as comprehension, phonemic awareness, and vocabulary usage.

My Students

Help my students practice the five areas of reading that are so essential to becoming a successful reader...vocabulary, comprehension, phonics, phonemic awareness, and fluency! Once mastered, my students will become a reader in the CENTER OF ATTENTION!

I have a wonderful group of twenty first graders!

I have an equal part of boys and girls. They are eager to learn and full of enthusiasm! We are part of a high poverty area where materials are often hard to come by. Our school is in a very rural area and is considered small by comparison. Our school system in general is gravitating toward a more hands on learning environment providing students with ample opportunity to practice skills introduced in the classroom. Overall, these kids attend regularly and benefit greatly from interaction and interactive games and centers!

My Project

The addition of the learning centers will enhance classroom learning greatly! I will be able to design a very interactive, hands-on learning environment for the students. These centers will be assembled for daily use and available to all students throughout the day. Students will practice a variety of reading skills that will enhance their understanding and mastery of the reading essential to great reading success. Through this success, students will gain a sense of self confidence that will propel them to the next level of learning. The mastery of said reading skills will also transcend into all other subject areas providing more well rounded success stories!
