Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work at a school where 83% of the students are on free or reduced lunch. The majority of my students come from another country and are learning how to speak and read English. I have twenty kindergarten students so far this year and my numbers will climb. Half of my students have never been to school before and lack basic skills of knowing their letters or numbers much less how to write their name. I would love to be able to have structured learning centers that will allow them to learn and love doing so.
My Project
The materials I am asking for would make a huge difference for me and my students in the classroom. I have so many students functioning on different levels including students with Autism, that I need a variety of materials to help target their areas of weaknesses. The variety of learning centers will allow me to work with small groups and build them up to be successful learners.
This project would have a huge impact on my students that are significantly behind.
Having materials the students can actually touch and manipulate will allow them to have a more interactive learning experience.
