This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 30 first grade students in a large urban school district. Many of my students come to me reading below grade level. My goal is to have my students reading on or above grade level by the end of the year and to create lifetime learners!
My scholars are energetic and come to school every day to learn.
They want to be police officers, teachers, doctors, astronauts, and professional athletes. They know that they need to start their education off right! However, many of them come to school each day without the supplies they need.
My Project
Our class participates in centers and guided reading daily. Centers are educational activities they complete independently while I work with a small group for guided reading or math. In order to keep my students engaged and learning, I need to have multiple choices for them. The choices must also be differentiated so I am meeting everyone's’ needs.
My students love to learn in creative ways.
These educational games will help my students learn how to read, spell, and learn real-world math skills. They will be engaged in small group educational games during the entire small group time. These games give my students a variety of choices that cater to their various needs.
