My Students
I have a wonderful group of first grade students who love to learn new things. This is my first year teaching at this school.
My students face many personal struggles yet come to school everyday ready to learn.
They know that room 8 is a safe, loving, and nurturing environment where we can have discussions, disagreements, and problem solve as a team!
All of my students plan to attend college in the future. We frequently talk about what needs to happen over the course of the next 12 school years in order for that to happen. Some of my students expressed their interest in having a career as a judge, nurse, game designer, and firefighter.
My Project
With the Classic Birch Tabletop Writing Center and Writing Activity Stations my students will have an organized, designated area to explore and develop their writing skills during literacy center rotations. The writing center and activity stations will help my scholars practice handwriting, sentence building, and all of the stages of the writing process from prewriting, to revision, to publishing, in a fun, inspiring space.
Each of my students is brimming with personal anecdotes, imaginative tales and factual information just begging to be recorded onto paper!
My students will be thrilled to create and publish friendly letters to a family member, personal narratives about their favorite pet, and author informative pieces about plant life cycles or important community jobs using their new writing center. At the same time, they will be developing a solid writing foundation and become more confident, enthusiastic and successful writers. The writing center and writing activities will help my students develop writing skills that will last throughout their schooling and beyond!
