My Students

My fifth grade students are precious students who desire to have an inviting place to come and learn. Life at home is not always easy for them, so I try my best to make my classroom the place they want to be.

The diversity in my classroom is wide-spread, so the needs that must be met are wide-spread too.

I love building relationships with them that go beyond the 180 days we are together. My students bring incredible joy to my life!

My Project

Reading is essential to everything you do in life. In order to succeed, it is important that you learn how to read. I have chosen colorful area rugs with comfortable pillows and bean bag chairs to give my students a fun, inviting place to read and to hold their book club meetings.

I know without a doubt that my students will be more engaged in their independent reading time when given a choice of where to read.

I feel there will be less distractions in the classroom when students are able to spread out and go to their reading area of choice.
