My Students
My classroom is blessed to have sixteen curious, engaging and creative little minds. I know that my room holds a future President, Nobel Peace prize winner, a couple of doctors and lawyers, and definitely a rock star or two.
During the first formative years of life, a child's intellectual development is crucial.
Each child is capable of learning if he/she is presented with materials that are suited to his/her individual needs. As a teacher, it is my duty and responsibility to find a way to reach each student, and present the learning content in a way that is relevant to them. I want to provide a learner-centered classroom environment that is rich with activity that will meet their needs.
My Project
According to TeacherVision," A learning center is a space set aside in the classroom that allows easy access to a variety of learning materials in an interesting and productive manner. Centers are designed to enhance the learning of concepts, skills, themes, or topics. This learning can take place after a topic is presented to students, during the course of presenting important concepts, or as an initial introduction to material in the text."
My kiddos all have mixed abilities. The use of the centers will allow them to work on their level. For example, students who understand the learning content, can challenge themselves by performing more rigorous independent tasks, while students who are struggling can take the time to revisit the topic, using tools/materials that they understand.
My role as a kindergarten teacher is to facilitate growth by utilizing the interesting and unique needs of students as a guide for meaningful instruction.
Because children learn best when they hear, see, and manipulate variables, my teaching method is often dictated by their need to have hands-on materials. If you give to my project, you will be helping these precious little ones learn at their pace. You will be positively enhancing their academic careers and giving them the best start possible.
