This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in an urban area where students face many challenges both in and out of the classroom. Many of my students come to me without preschool experience and lack many of the prerequisite skills their suburban counterparts come to school with. Despite these challenges, my students come to me willing and excited to learn! They come to me as dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners who have a thirst for knowledge! They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are budding ambassadors, world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers.
They are our future and I want to give them a great start to their long successful educational experience and endeavors.
My Project
First of all I want to start by saying that my kindergarten babies absolutely love learning and learn best through play! Center time is their most requested and favorite part of the school day! I chose to request these specific Lakeshore center activities/materials because my kindergarten students need a bit more hands on, engaging, and fun learning centers related to mathematics Math Folder Game Library and Magentic Counting Maze) as well as literacy (Launch and Learn Language Games and Sight Word Puzzle set)! These Lakeshore learning materials will no doubt make a positive difference and impact on my kindergarteners' learning as well as improve their school lives by exposing them to learning in a fun, interactive, engaging, and hands on way!
