My students come to me with a variety of knowledge and abilities. Some have previous school experiences, while others have never attended anything in a group setting before. It is for this reason that I think it is important to have multiple choices for my students to get the extra support or challenge that they need.
My classroom is diverse both in socio economic status and culture.
I feel that it is important to embrace the child as a whole when they come to my class.
The more engaged students are, the better they learn. We do a lot of learning through hands on activities where we are manipulating items. Prep work for centers can take hours of cutting out, with the purchase of the Scan and Cut, that time can be cut down to 20 minutes I've heard!
Throughout the Kindergarten day, my students are engaged in Morning Tubs, Literacy Centers and Math Centers.
They Scan and Cut will help with the prep work of these activities, and will allow me more time to focus on the content of the activities, and have activities based on different student needs. Some projects we will be able to use are having cards to match uppercase and lowercase letters, having a picture and finding the letters to create the word that the picture is for reading activities. For Math activities, we use centers to match an amount with a number, to use as manipulatives to count, add, and subtract with, and shapes to sort.
