My Students

If a friend needs help, we give..if we need help, we ask.. if there is a problem, we find a solution. These statements are values I teach my kids daily. It's important that I abide by them myself. We need help and therefore I'm asking you to help me spark and fuel a flame for learning in OUR kids!

The little people in my class are exciting, eager Kindergarteners from New Orleans who attend a public charter school.

They possess so much spunk and personality. They mostly come from low to moderate income families who partner with me to expose them to a passion and love of learning. Many of my students are new to school and require lots of attention and additional support with learning basic skills. It is imperative that I find as many ways possible to keep them engaged and eager to learn and experience new things.

My Project

I submitted this project to bring our learning centers to a higher level of rigor and engagement. For our science center, I have requested magnifiers, Mighty Magnets, sorting shells, measuring tape, tweezers, and activity trays. All of these materials will allow my scholars to use learning tools to explore and learn more about the world around them. In my Math center, I have requested a Learn To Count Flannelboard Set, Shapes and Colors Set, Sorting and Patterning Pocket Chart, Graphing Chart, Number Play, and a Large Manipulative Set. These resources will enhance my whole group instruction and also allow for small group and individual student support and learning. The student furniture will be used in our library and to create a learning space for our special scholar. The art supplies will give us more opportunities to create projects to display our learning and growth. The bins, pocket charts, easels, and organization center is to help me!

This project is so important to my students and I because there is so much that is required to address every need of every student in a class.

My school is just not able to provide all of it, however the need does not go away. With your help, I will be able to provide more learning experiences that will hopefully have long lasting impressions on my scholars. School was always exciting and fun and I hope to heighten the element of Joyful learning in my class!
