My Students
I teach in an urban setting within a Title I school in Richmond, Virginia. My school is a medium-sized school in a community that is full of lower-income families. ALL kids receive free breakfast and lunch.
I am currently teaching Kindergarten and my lively bunch would immensely benefit from activity based academic centers.
My students have shown observable retention of concepts learned when using tangible materials during individual, small group, and whole class lessons. Help us start the year strong and engaged so we can maximize growth in our curious brains!
My Project
These hands-on materials will make a huge difference in the ability for students to comprehend and retain concepts learned throughout their first year of school. Kindergarten sets the foundation for learning and shapes students’ views of education for the future. Tangible materials have been proven to increase student engagement and overall learning. These materials will increase student involvement in the areas of literacy and mathematics, which are both critical to academic and social development. Help us shape little minds and get them excited to learn and be an active participant in their educational environment. This project will allow students to combine academic progress with social interaction and fosters a lasting foundation in literacy and math.
